SYF 09
SYF 09 was a killer. The judges were here to kill most of the bands. Gold bands got their silver, while the silver ones got their bronze. That was exactly the case, we felt. For the whole morning of 8th April, almost 80% of the participating schools were given bronze, and many done so consecutively. Swiss cottage band had been getting their Gold medal until now, a silver. Same goes to Commonwealth, just to name a few. Hillgrove wasn't bad - in fact they were good enough to have clinched a silver with their hard work. But a spade being a spade, the players should nonetheless still recognise it and work hard the next round. Just that the judges wanted to raise the local standard, that's all. I would only say, don't cry over spilled milk. Mr Ong has done his best, in fact much more hard work than the previous ones. I'm quite certain Mr Ong won't be allowed to recontract. So if that's the case, the alumni will vacate their already-cold seats too. It's just no point reviving an already dead pet. Unless the school changes its 'system', the status quo shall remain. I pity the few.
